Solana Seeker: Everything We Know About the 2025 Web3 Smartphone

The Solana Seeker is slated to launch in mid-2025, specifically around the summer months.Solana Mobile officially unveiled this device at the Token2049 event in Singapore in September 2024, stating their goal of a "mid-2025 release." According to some sources, shipping could begin between June and July 2025. However, hardware development schedules can often face delays, so the exact date will likely be confirmed closer to the launch.

Key Features

The Solana Seeker is the successor to the first device, Solana Saga, and it’s been upgraded in several ways:

  • Hardware: A thinner and lighter design than the Saga, a brighter "flagship" AMOLED display (6.36 inches), an enhanced camera (with a third sensor added to the rear), and longer battery life. The specs are known to include 8GB RAM and 128GB of storage.
  • Web3 Integration: It comes with a built-in cryptocurrency wallet called Seed Vault, making it easy to manage Solana-based dApps, NFTs, and tokens. Developed in collaboration with Solflare, this wallet offers convenient features like "double-tap transactions."
  • dApp Store 2.0: The Solana dApp Store has been upgraded, allowing users to more easily navigate a variety of apps for payments, DeFi, NFTs, and gaming, with added reward-tracking functionality.
  • Seeker Genesis Token: Each device includes a soulbound NFT, granting access to exclusive rewards and content within the Solana ecosystem. Much like the Saga, this could drive significant popularity through airdrops.

Price and Pre-Order Details

  • Price: During the initial "Founder Window" pre-order phase, it was priced at $450, but it’s now in the "Early Adopter" stage at $500 (roughly 720,000 KRW). It might get pricier in the upcoming "Supporter Window."
  • Pre-Order Status: As of the September 2024 announcement, over 140,000 units have already been pre-ordered. That’s a huge leap past the Saga’s total production run of 20,000 units, showing massive interest.

Why the Hype?

The Solana Seeker is generating buzz thanks to the Saga’s success story. The Saga launched at $1,000 but dropped to $599 due to slow sales—until the value of token airdrops like BONK skyrocketed in late 2023, leading to a sellout.

The Seeker, with its similar airdrop potential, lower price point, and improved hardware, could make waves in the market. Bringing Solana’s lightning-fast network (65,000 transactions per second) to mobile users is another big draw.

Additional Info

The latest updates suggest Solana Mobile is using the Seeker to encourage more developer participation in DeFi, gaming, and NFT spaces. For instance, a partnership with Helius on zk-compression could make airdrop distribution more efficient, and there’s potential for gaming apps to get a boost too. That said, it’s worth noting this isn’t a dedicated "gaming console"—it’s a smartphone built for the web3 experience.
